Icarus Dash (Experimental) is one of the Back Augmentations in Deus Ex: Mankind Divided.

Description

The Icarus Dash augmentation allows users to propel themselves horizontally at great speed across a short distance, whether on the ground or in the air. It achieves this by generating an electromagnetic pulse-wave behind the user, which applies pressure evenly across the user's back.

Notes

This augmentation can effectively replace certain augmentations if the user is skilled enough.

  • It can effectively replace the Icarus Landing System, since the Player can almost always dash from a high point on to a lower point without issue with a few exceptions (the top of the hotel in Dubai).
  • It can also replace the Klipspringer Jump upgrade to the Cybernetic Leg Prosthesis due to the fact that instead of jumping up to a high point, the user can instead use Icarus Dash to "Dash" to the high point instead.

When fully upgraded, this augmentation can be used to "ram" into enemies to knock them unconscious and thus serves as an effective non-lethal ability as well. This is done by purchasing the Charged Dash upgrade, charging the aug by holding the aug and aiming it an an opponent, the icon determing what the user will do at the end of the dash will change to a fist and thus confirms that the user will ram into the opponent and knock then unconscious.

Trivia

This augmentation has often been compared to the Blink supernatural ability from the game Dishonored, this is due to the fact that they are both traversal powers that allow the user to quickly and quietly travel from place to place as well as to higher points easily.
